Welcome to Kim Flett Prep

My own journey started with a simple act of kindness from my high school student council advisor. She always kept a roll of Lifesavers in her desk. She’d slip me one and ask how I was really doing. That small gesture showed me someone cared whether I made it or not. I was working toward becoming a first-generation college student, figuring it out on my own with scholarships and student loans. I didn’t always have the answers I needed, and I felt that struggle deeply. That experience lit a fire in me. I wanted to be the person who made sure other students had the guidance I didn’t. So I became a school counselor. For decades I’ve worked in school counseling, both in traditional schools and virtual schools. I’ve guided students through every kind of challenge and triumph. From kids quietly struggling, to valedictorians aiming for top colleges, to NCAA athletes chasing their dreams (including one who became a first-round NFL draft pick). Uniquely, I’ve sat on both sides of the IEP table, which gives me a rare understanding of what families truly experience. Here’s what I’ve learned after all these years: every student deserves access to expert, caring guidance, no matter their situation. What I love most is developing creative, outside-the-box solutions for unique situations, and crafting compelling admissions narratives that universities simply can’t ignore. At the heart of everything I do is finding the absolute best fit for each student, whether that’s an elite university or a program that perfectly matches who they are and what they need. That’s why I created Kim Flett Prep. I’m always guided first and foremost by what is truly in the student’s best interest. And yes, I still keep a roll of Lifesavers in my desk as a daily reminder of why this work matters.
